Netflix’s new AI Discover tab helps you find something to watch based on your mood
techcrunch ·
Netflix has launched a new experimental feature called the 'AI Discover' tab, designed to help users find content based on their current mood and viewing preferences. This initiative aims to shift discovery away from endless scrolling toward a more personalized, AI-driven experience that responds to real-time user input. Users can select from curated themes such as 'something light,' 'scare me,' or 'family movie night,' which generate tailored recommendations using clips from shows and movies. The system includes interactive elements like a 'Tune Your Recommendations' button, allowing viewers to save liked titles or exclude unwanted ones to refine future suggestions. Netflix describes this tab as a 'test kitchen' where it will trial new discovery methods before integrating successful features into the main platform. The rollout is currently limited to English-speaking users in the United States on supported TVs, with broader expansion planned for the coming weeks. This update reflects Netflix's ongoing effort to manage its growing library by making navigation easier and more intuitive for subscribers.
