Nirva raises $33M for a pendant that only listens to you
techcrunch ·
Nirva has secured $33 million in funding to develop a wearable AI pendant designed exclusively for the wearer. Founded by former Meta Reality Labs employees and a fashion entrepreneur, the startup aims to blend jewelry aesthetics with ambient AI technology. The lightweight device passively listens only to the user's speech, filtering out surrounding conversations to address privacy concerns. Unlike traditional voice recorders, Nirva focuses on personal insights rather than productivity, analyzing tone and pitch to improve self-awareness. The companion app provides users with emotional and communication style feedback based on their daily interactions. Nirva plans to begin accepting orders in November, with shipments expected by the end of the year. The $249 device will be available in multiple finishes including silver, black, and gold. This launch positions Nirva as a competitor in the growing market of intelligent jewelry and ambient AI wearables.
