Nscale IPO to Test Investor Appetite for AI Cloud Provider Reliant on Microsoft and Anthropic
aiinsider ·
British neocloud provider Nscale is preparing for a New York Stock Exchange listing, aiming to raise $3 billion with an expected valuation of $35 billion. Spun out from Australian cryptocurrency miner Arkon Energy two years ago, the company has secured over $103 billion in contracts, primarily driven by massive agreements with Microsoft and Anthropic. Approximately 85% of these commitments stem from a $43.8 billion deal with Microsoft extending through 2033 and a $44.6 billion supply agreement with Anthropic. The Anthropic contract includes stringent milestones that could allow the AI lab to withdraw if not met. Financially, Nscale reported revenue growth to $140.6 million for the six months ending June 30, though net losses increased significantly to $1.02 billion. To support its operations, Nvidia recently agreed to provide $1 billion in convertible debt as part of a larger financing package. The company operates data centers in Norway, Portugal, Texas, and West Virginia, and features notable former executives from Meta and OpenAI on its board.
