NVIDIA and Supply Chain Partners Expand Capacity to Accelerate AI Infrastructure Buildout
nvidia ·
NVIDIA has announced a major expansion of its global manufacturing capacity in collaboration with key supply chain partners to meet the extraordinary demand for AI infrastructure. CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that capacity is currently the primary constraint in what he describes as the largest infrastructure buildout in human history. Substrate production will see a 2.5x increase over the next three years, driven by agreements with IBIDEN, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, and Unimicron Technology Corporation. Advanced packaging capabilities are set to grow by more than 300% by 2028 through a partnership with Amkor Technology. To strengthen U.S. manufacturing, NVIDIA provided a $1.1 billion advance to King Yuan Electronics for new testing facilities expected to begin high-volume production in April 2027. Additionally, Siliconware Precision Industries aims to expand optical-engine capacity for co-packaged optics by 15x by mid-2027. These strategic investments aim to enhance supply chain resiliency and redundancy across substrates, packaging, testing, and optical components.
