Nvidia backs Indian startup helping companies run AI models with fewer GPUs
techcrunch ·
Nvidia has invested $14 million in Indian startup Simplismart during a Series B funding round that values the company at approximately $100 million. The investment aims to support software designed to help businesses run AI models more efficiently, potentially requiring fewer GPUs by optimizing deployment on existing infrastructure. Co-founder and CEO Amritanshu Jain emphasized that the technology balances speed, cost, and performance rather than simply chasing the fastest or cheapest options. Simplismart’s platform automates complex adjustments for AI workloads, helping clients like InVideo reduce GPU serving costs by 56%. The startup reports an eight-figure annualized revenue run rate, with over half of its income originating from the United States despite having more customers in India. Nvidia’s involvement includes technical integrations with its Dynamo inference software and introductions to potential partners, creating a strategic alliance despite the apparent paradox of supporting efficiency tools that reduce hardware dependency. Founded in 2022 by former Oracle and Google engineers, Simplismart plans to use the new capital to expand its U.S. presence and grow its team.
