NVIDIA Commits $250 Million to Advance UK Agentic Safety and Security Research Over the Next Five Years
nvidia ·
NVIDIA has announced a five-year commitment of $250 million in compute donations to support agentic safety and security research in the United Kingdom. This initiative provides $50 million annually to strengthen the nation's AI safety capabilities, with a significant portion dedicated to specific institutions including BOLD, SOFAIR, and Imperial College London. The funding aims to help researchers develop, test, and implement safeguards for increasingly powerful artificial intelligence systems. Compute access will be delivered through UK-based NVIDIA Cloud Partners, ensuring that infrastructure remains domestic and supports the local compute ecosystem. Key research areas include secure agents, open-model security, real-world threat mitigations, and robotics safety. U.K. officials, including AI Minister Kanishka Narayan and Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds, praised the investment as a vote of confidence in Britain’s world-leading scientific rigor. CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that AI capability and safety must advance together to ensure technology benefits everyone.
