Nvidia confirmed it will acquire Hugging Face for $12.93 billion. Hugging Face's platform hosts three million models, one million applications, and half a million datasets, serving over 18 million developers. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said Hugging Face will remain an open platform for the AI ecosystem, with no requirement to use Nvidia compute. Hugging Face CEO Clem Delangue said the company sought more compute, support, collaboration, and visibility, which led to talks with Nvidia. Hugging Face was founded in 2016 and has raised over $395 million, having previously rejected a $500 million deal from Nvidia last year. The startup currently has annualized revenue of $150 million and is approaching profitability. The deal aligns with Nvidia's broader investment in open models and AI infrastructure. Nvidia has released over 500 models and 250 open datasets on Hugging Face and has invested more than $50 billion in AI frontier labs.
