Nvidia Deepens Its AI Infrastructure Dominance With MediaTek Investment and Data-Center Orchestration Gains
aiinsider ·
Nvidia is strengthening its AI infrastructure dominance through a $3.5 billion investment in Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek. Under the deal, MediaTek will use Nvidia technology to design custom chips for AI companies and hyperscalers that integrate into Nvidia-based data centers. The partnership gives MediaTek access to Nvidia's NVLink Fusion ecosystem, which enables faster communication between chips regardless of origin. This follows a similar arrangement with AWS, which will deploy two million additional Nvidia GPUs. Nvidia's latest earnings also show advantages beyond GPUs, such as the Vera Rubin architecture and Vera CPU, which delivers roughly threefold improvements in memory operations. Competitors like OpenAI are pursuing similar efficiency gains with different chip designs, but Nvidia currently holds a substantial lead in this new competitive layer.
