Nvidia discloses $21B stake in SpaceX

Nvidia has revealed through a recent SEC filing that it holds nearly 123 million shares in SpaceX, representing an investment originally valued at approximately $21 billion as of late June. The current worth of the holding has decreased to roughly $17 billion following a decline in SpaceX's stock price after its initial public offering. This substantial position reflects a successful payoff from Nvidia's earlier acquisition of xAI, which was subsequently integrated into Musk's aerospace company. In a recent earnings call, Musk confirmed that SpaceX will exclusively utilize Nvidia's Vera Rubin architecture to power its expanding data center operations. Beyond this specific deal, Nvidia has deployed over $100 billion across the artificial intelligence sector, funding numerous startups and recently purchasing the coding platform Cursor for $60 billion. To further stimulate infrastructure development, the company is assembling a $500 billion investment consortium with major financial institutions to help finance customer projects. Meanwhile, SpaceX intends to scale its computational capacity significantly, targeting an increase from two gigawatts this year to approximately ten gigawatts by the end of 2027.
