NVIDIA has secured an exclusive partnership with SB Energy to develop a major artificial intelligence computing hub at the PORTS-Pike Technology Campus in Pike County, Ohio. The facility will utilize NVIDIA’s full-stack DSX platform, with OpenAI designated as the primary customer for the initial 4.25 IT-GW deployment and an option to add another 3.75 IT-GW. To facilitate this expansion, NVIDIA will contribute a $1.5 billion investment to SB Energy, joining existing stakeholders SoftBank Group and OpenAI. The project focuses on revitalizing the decommissioned Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant site, with construction phases slated to begin delivering capacity in 2028. Beyond computing infrastructure, the initiative includes multi-billion-dollar investments in regional electrical grids and an $80 million community fund aimed at workforce development and local economic growth. Company leaders highlighted that establishing dedicated land, power, and shell resources is essential for scaling AI factories efficiently. Ultimately, the campus is designed to generate tens of thousands of high-skilled jobs while positioning Southern Ohio as a central node in the next wave of industrial innovation.
