NVIDIA Isaac ROS 5.0 Advances Agentic, Open Source Robotics Development
nvidia ·
NVIDIA has released Isaac ROS 5.0, a major update to its open-source robotics framework that introduces AI agent capabilities for developers. Released at the ROSCon conference in Toronto, this version supports ROS Lyrical and Ubuntu 24.04 while expanding GPU-accelerated libraries for the NVIDIA Jetson platform. The update features new agentic workflows, including skills for setup, manipulation, and FoundationStereo fine-tuning, which allow AI agents to assist with complex coding and perception tasks. Key enhancements include an agent-ready inference library for FoundationPose, enabling object tracking up to 5.5x faster, and standalone pick-and-place capabilities. The ecosystem is further strengthened by partnerships with companies like RealSense, Intrinsic, and Seeed Studio, who are integrating these tools into industrial and humanoid robot applications. Developers can now deploy sophisticated physical AI models on scalable hardware ranging from Jetson Orin Nano to Jetson Thor. This release aims to accelerate the transition from research to real-world manufacturing and mobility by combining open source standards with accelerated computing. Isaac ROS 5.0 is available immediately as a free and open-source resource on GitHub.
