Nvidia Releases Isaac ROS 5.0 With New AI Agent Tools for Robotics Developers
aiinsider ·
Nvidia has released Isaac ROS 5.0, an update to its open-source robotics software that introduces new AI agent tools and expanded support for ROS Lyrical and Ubuntu 24.04. The release features reusable skills for setup and manipulation, along with enhanced perception capabilities such as FoundationStereo fine-tuning and a faster FoundationPose model for object tracking. Nvidia collaborated with the Open Source Robotics Alliance to create a standard interface for efficient data movement across computing hardware, including GPUs. The software is designed to run on Nvidia’s Jetson edge-computing devices, allowing developers to maintain consistency from development to deployment. Several companies, including RealSense, Intrinsic, Universal Robots, and Robotis, are already integrating Isaac ROS 5.0 into their systems for various robotic applications. Key integrations include AgenticROS for connecting AI agents with robots and Open Machine Tending Solution for industrial tasks. The announcement was made at ROSCon 2026 in Toronto, and the software is available for download via GitHub.
