Ollie, a privacy-focused AI assistant, is shutting down
techcrunch ·
Ollie, a privacy-focused AI assistant startup, has announced it will shut down its services on November 6. Co-founder and CEO Bill Lennon shared the news on X, expressing pride in the team's accomplishments despite the closure. The app specialized in helping families manage daily tasks such as email, calendar management, meal planning, and bill payments through a subscription model. Notably, Ollie achieved SOC 2 compliance, distinguishing itself with a strong commitment to user privacy in an industry where such features are rarely profitable. However, intense competition from rivals like Muse and Instinct made it difficult for the company to stand out and secure necessary capital. Lennon stated that they could not keep up with the pressures of the burgeoning AI market. Affected customers will soon receive instructions for exporting their data and obtaining refunds.
