Ondas and Palantir Launch Regna AI for Sovereign Defense Systems
aiinsider ·
Ondas and Palantir Technologies have established Regna AI, a new standalone company dedicated to developing sovereign artificial intelligence models for defense and mission-critical operations. Initially funded and owned by Ondas, the venture will utilize Palantir’s Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) alongside open-weight models to create fine-tuned systems tailored to specific missions rather than relying on general-purpose frontier models. These AI solutions are designed to operate within customer-controlled infrastructure and on edge hardware, including drones, ground vehicles, and command-and-control platforms, ensuring sensitive data remains secure. The primary focus for initial deployments is Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) applications, with plans to expand into security and industrial markets later. Regna AI aims to support operators in assessing information and proposing mission changes while keeping humans in the loop for final authorization. This initiative builds upon the existing SkyWeaver C4I collaboration between the two firms, leveraging open-architecture systems for both connected and disconnected environments. Executives from both companies emphasize that this approach allows institutions to maintain full control over their AI strategies without depending on external proprietary models.
