OpenAI Adds Locked Chats to ChatGPT and Acquires Orchestra Bio to Strengthen Life Sciences AI
aiinsider ·
OpenAI has announced two significant developments aimed at enhancing user privacy and expanding its presence in the life sciences sector. The company introduced a new 'Locked Chats' feature for ChatGPT, allowing users to protect sensitive conversations with a four-digit PIN or biometric authentication on supported devices. Unlike temporary chats, locked conversations remain accessible but are stored separately from regular history and maintain independent memory settings. However, OpenAI clarified that this feature does not offer end-to-end encryption or alter data retention policies. In a separate move, OpenAI acquired Orchestra Bio, a startup specializing in AI agents for biotech operations such as drug discovery and clinical trial management. This acquisition is intended to bolster Rosalind, OpenAI's specialized model for life sciences research, which already serves major pharmaceutical clients like Moderna and Novo Nordisk. These actions reflect a broader trend of leading AI labs integrating software solutions directly into critical industries like healthcare.
