OpenAI doubles usage limits on Pro plans as competition with Anthropic heats up
decoder ·
OpenAI has doubled usage limits for several paid tiers, specifically affecting Work and Codex quotas on the Pro 100 and Pro 500 plans. On the Pro 200 tier, the company doubled the lower quota and reversed a previously planned reduction following user pushback. The Plus plan remains unchanged, while new subscriptions automatically include the updated quotas and existing customers receive them without action. OpenAI clarified that doubling a quota does not equate to twice as many completed tasks, as consumption varies by model, task type, and settings. The expanded limits for the new "Dots" remain in place, though Dot usage is tracked separately. To support higher usable capacity, OpenAI recently released its efficient 6.1 models, Terra and Sol. This strategic move occurs as Anthropic prepares for its IPO, intensifying competition between the two firms for B2B dominance in the AI sector.
