OpenAI announced several major updates to its Codex coding assistant and API ecosystem at its DevDay 2026 conference in San Francisco. The company introduced reusable cloud development environments for Codex, allowing teams to share configurations and start tasks more quickly across various devices. A revamped CLI now supports voice-controlled task steering, while the desktop app features a new code review view for analyzing changes across multiple projects. For security purposes, OpenAI launched Codex Security Cloud, which automatically scans repositories for vulnerabilities and prepares fixes using Daybreak Blue models. In the agent space, the Agents API now includes 'Computer Use,' enabling agents to operate software independently, alongside new multi-agent and context compaction features. OpenAI also entered the System One model market with a Decisions API built on GPT-6 Luna, designed for fast classification and routing tasks. Additionally, a new premium 'Ultrafast' tier significantly increases token generation speeds for GPT-6 Astra but comes at six times the standard API cost. This speed upgrade is available through Enterprise plans and a new $500 monthly Pro subscription.
