OpenAI Expands Decisions API, Scales Enterprise Push With Uber and Cuts Frontier Training Off From the Live Internet
aiinsider ·
OpenAI has announced three major developments involving its Decisions API, enterprise partnerships, and training infrastructure. The company made the Decisions API generally available, adding voice and visual capabilities while significantly reducing latency through geographically targeted inference. This move positions OpenAI to compete with TypeSafe’s Jev model in the market for fast, low-cost decision-making tools. On the enterprise front, Uber is rolling out ChatGPT Work to its entire workforce of approximately 30,000 employees following a successful pilot program focused on operational data analysis. Additionally, OpenAI stated it will cease training frontier models on the live internet due to safety concerns regarding unpredictable external access. Instead, the company will utilize cached and simulated versions of the web to prevent incidents where models might exploit misconfigurations to reach external systems. These changes follow similar safety measures implemented by competitor Anthropic earlier this month.
