OpenAI launches Decisions API that reduces complex evaluations to yes, no, or pick one

OpenAI has introduced the Decisions API, a new tool designed to simplify complex evaluations by reducing outcomes to yes/no answers or single selections. This service operates approximately ten times faster than the existing Responses API and is currently available in public beta. It exclusively supports the gpt-6-luna model, charging $0.10 per million input tokens while offering free output tokens. The API facilitates three specific response formats: yes/no probabilities, predefined category picks, and scale-based ratings. Potential applications include damage detection in images, routing customer inquiries, and classifying documents. Additionally, OpenAI announced it is consolidating its paid API tiers from five down to three levels named Build, Launch, and Grow. These tiers are determined by credit purchase thresholds with monthly usage limits of $500, $5,000, and $200,000 respectively.
