OpenAI is reportedly negotiating to raise up to $30 billion in private funding at a pre-money valuation of $1.25 trillion, according to sources cited by CNBC. This financing round is led by Coatue and investors from the United Arab Emirates, potentially accompanied by a deal for additional computing capacity. The reported valuation follows an earlier Bloomberg account suggesting a higher target of $1.4 trillion, though terms remain under negotiation. If successful, this would make OpenAI the most valuable private company in history, surpassing its previous March valuation of $852 billion. The company filed confidential IPO paperwork in June as it prepares for a public listing. Meanwhile, rival Anthropic is also preparing for a public debut, with rumors suggesting an imminent S-1 filing and a target valuation between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion. Anthropic previously raised $65 billion at a $965 billion valuation in May.
