OpenAI to Merge ChatGPT’s Chat and Work Tabs Into a Single Experience
aiinsider ·
OpenAI is preparing to merge the Chat and Work tabs within its ChatGPT desktop application to create a unified user experience. This update aims to resolve confusion caused by the current separation of features, allowing users to seamlessly transition from idea exploration to task execution in one place. The merged interface will enable users to utilize files and plugins for tasks such as building websites or creating presentations while maintaining oversight of the AI's work. Codex will remain a distinct feature within the desktop app, separate from this new combined ChatGPT environment. Additionally, ChatGPT and Codex will now share a single token allowance pool, which may require some users to wait for resets more frequently depending on their usage patterns. OpenAI plans to test this change with a select group of users for feedback before a broader release. This strategic move mirrors a similar integration recently implemented by rival Anthropic for its Claude platform.
