OpenClaw 2.0 brings simplified setup, a rebuilt browser app, and multiplayer sessions
decoder ·
OpenClaw Foundation released version 2.0 of its open-source AI platform, its largest update yet with over 16,000 pull requests. The update simplifies initial setup by detecting existing resources like ChatGPT or Claude subscriptions, API keys, and local models, reducing configuration steps. The browser app was rebuilt from scratch, allowing users to start conversations immediately and continue setup, track tasks, or pick up ongoing work. New features include a 'Session Rail' status display and an integrated companion thread for asking questions without interrupting the agent. Shared Cloud Sessions enable multiple users to collaborate on the same tasks, which the OpenClaw team uses for building the platform itself. Sessions can run locally, on paired personal hardware, or on rented machines through the Crabbox tool, with provider credentials kept on the gateway. The release also includes updates to messaging, memory, skills, model support, automations, native apps, plugins, and security.
