techcrunch ·
Otter.ai has secured $320 million in funding from General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund, a growth investment vehicle designed to provide capital without diluting equity. The startup plans to utilize these funds to accelerate enterprise growth, expand internationally, and drive product innovation. This significant raise follows the company's achievement of crossing $100 million in annual recurring revenue last year. Otter.ai now boasts 40 million users, an increase from 25 million the previous year, though it did not disclose specific metrics on monthly active users or churn rates. The company faces intense competition in the crowded meeting note-taking market from rivals such as Fireflies.ai, Granola, and Read AI. To differentiate itself, Otter is focusing on transforming meeting transcripts into actionable business insights and automating workflows for enterprise systems. New features being tested include pre-briefs with context from previous conversations and a Live Assist function that allows real-time questioning during meetings. General Catalyst highlighted voice data as a major untapped opportunity in enterprise AI, citing Otter’s ability to enhance organizational productivity.
