Peak XV Raises Surge Seed Cap to $5M as AI Startups Dominate 18-Company Cohort
aiinsider ·
Peak XV Partners has increased the per-company investment ceiling for its Surge seed-stage platform to $5 million, up from $3 million. This adjustment reflects a rising bar for Series A funding and an increase in capital-intensive deep tech startups requiring larger initial rounds. The first cohort under this new limit, Surge 12, includes 18 companies with Peak XV investing over $50 million across them. AI-driven ventures dominate the group, featuring startups like Reinforce Labs, Hiloop, and Alma that focus on enterprise AI evaluation, model adaptation, and personal computing. Other notable AI applications in the cohort include August AI for physician-led care, Kello for talent discovery, and Ditto for dating within iMessage. Beyond software, the cohort also encompasses physical AI innovations such as Puralink’s underground pipe robots and Ulook’s autonomous satellites. Since its inception in 2019, the Surge program has backed more than 180 startups, with its top ten companies generating over $1 billion in combined annual revenue.
