Perplexity Portable Computer Is Now Available on Windows, Powered by NVIDIA RTX

Perplexity has made its Portable Computer available in the Perplexity app for Windows on compatible NVIDIA GeForce RTX PCs and RTX PRO Workstations. Portable Computer is a local version of the Perplexity Computer agent, which plans and executes multistep tasks. It is accelerated by NVIDIA GPUs and uses local models to analyze data, gather information across files, and handle recurring work. The company says sensitive information remains on the device, and work completed locally does not use Perplexity Computer credits. Users can also send tasks to cloud models for more advanced research and reasoning, with the agent asking permission before off-device transmission. The release follows earlier support for NVIDIA DGX Spark systems and Linux RTX PCs, and setup is simplified through a local model such as Qwen 3.8 27B optimized for RTX GPUs. Connectors for services including Outlook, OneDrive, Word, Google Drive, Gmail, Slack, and GitHub extend the agent into daily workflows, and Portable Computer requires GeForce RTX or RTX PRO GPUs with at least 24GB of VRAM, with DGX Station support expected soon.
