aiinsider ·
PicoJool has secured $27.5 million in Series A funding led by Socratic Partners, with additional participation from Hudson River Trading. This investment follows a previous $12 million seed round, bringing the company's total capital to $39.5 million. The funds will be used to expand teams and facilities in the United States and Taiwan as PicoJool scales its optical connectivity solutions for AI infrastructure. Founder and CEO Al Yuen stated that the company is shifting focus from chip-level lasers to full optical modules, including active optical cables and next-generation pluggable optics. PicoJool aims to address bandwidth and power constraints in hyperscale AI clusters with products ranging from 800G to 1.6T and beyond. The company has begun early sampling of its VCSEL products and is collaborating with WIN Semiconductor to prepare 200G chips for mass production. Investors highlighted the critical role of efficient data movement in determining the speed and cost-effectiveness of AI scaling.
