Popular AI leaderboard Arena nearly doubles valuation to $3.1B valuation in 10 months

Arena, a crowdsourced AI model ranking platform that originated as a UC Berkeley research project, has secured a $200 million Series B funding round. This investment places the company's valuation at $3.1 billion, nearly doubling its previous $1.7 billion post-money valuation from ten months ago. The funding was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Khosla Ventures, with participation from major investors such as Salesforce Ventures, Dell Technologies Capital, and a16z. Arena reported reaching $100 million in annualized run-rate revenue in June, up significantly from the $30 million recorded during its Series A announcement earlier this year. The platform allows millions of monthly visitors to rate AI models based on user prompts, providing real-world performance data. In September, Arena launched its commercial service, AI Evaluations, which offers detailed analytics to enterprises seeking to identify the best models for their specific needs. To address concerns about static benchmarks being gamed by developers, Arena recently introduced an alignment category tracking safety issues like deceptive completion and false attribution. Current rankings show OpenAI models leading the preliminary alignment leaderboard, while Anthropic’s Claude Opus 5.5 and Fable occupy sixth and ninth positions respectively.
