PSA: Amazon’s shopping AI can now tell you if that message is a scam
techcrunch ·
Amazon has introduced new AI capabilities for its Alexa for Shopping service to help customers determine whether messages they receive are genuine or scams. The company says the AI can confirm authenticity by checking messages against the billions it has sent globally, analyzing sender details, content, timing, and metadata. This follows earlier efforts such as the verify@amazon.com email address and an online form for reporting suspicious messages. Amazon noted that the system will improve as more customers report scams. The feature is part of Amazon's broader strategy to make Alexa more shopping-focused, adding tools like personalized deals and alerts. Alexa for Shopping is accessible through Amazon's website and mobile app.
