Replika’s founder built the AI assistant she pitched at Disrupt 12 years ago

Twelve years after pitching her original chatbot IO at TechCrunch Disrupt, Eugenia Kuyda has officially launched Wabi, the latest venture from the founder of Replika. Kuyda left her role as CEO of Replika last year to establish Wabi, which aims to evolve beyond single-threaded AI assistants by offering a multiplayer personal agent platform. The new application functions as a messenger app where users can maintain multiple dedicated threads for different tasks, such as health tracking or family planning. Unlike competitors that rely on endless single conversations, Wabi allows agents to automatically build custom apps within these threads based on user data like email and calendar access. A key differentiator is its social design, enabling shared group chats where partners or families can collaborate using synchronized tools and information. Kuyda emphasizes that this approach helps reduce context loss and hallucinations while fostering real-life connections through shared digital experiences. Currently free and SOC 2 compliant, Wabi is seeking further funding as it enters a competitive market alongside other agentic AI startups.
