Report: Physical AI Growing Faster Than Markets Are Ready to Deploy
aiinsider ·
A new report from AWS Startups and Strand Partners reveals that Physical AI development is outpacing market readiness for deployment. While 15% of startups across 20 surveyed markets are building physical AI technologies, only 26% believe their local customers are prepared to adopt these solutions. Consequently, 70% of builders cite slow customer adoption as a primary constraint on growth. Cloud infrastructure remains critical, with 72% of developers considering it essential for training and running systems. Commercial deployment is most advanced in manufacturing and automotive sectors, where over half of the products are already in use. Customer demand is primarily driven by performance improvements rather than labor cost savings, although labor shortages significantly influence adoption in countries like Japan and Germany. Despite high confidence that the technology will become mainstream within five years, barriers such as limited capital, regulatory uncertainty, and supply chain risks continue to hinder widespread scaling.
