Rival AI agents, Instinct and Meta’s Muse, both add the ability to make calls
techcrunch ·
Text-based AI assistants are competing for users, with Instinct, Wajo, Town, Ollie, and Meta’s Muse among the leading contenders. Instinct has introduced Instinct Concierge in early access, allowing its agent to make phone calls for tasks such as booking restaurants, joining a dentist’s cancellation list, and resolving cable-billing issues. Meta has also expanded Muse’s beta to let it place outbound calls to U.S. businesses, initially prioritizing users who had requested the feature. The additions mean that phone calling, previously promoted by some rivals as an advantage over Instinct, is now becoming a shared capability among these assistants. Instinct recently added email addresses for account management and enabled assistants to contact other assistants within a trusted network. Both products are gaining traction: Instinct raised $350 million at a $2.5 billion valuation and is reportedly discussing a $1 billion round at a $10 billion valuation, while Muse surpassed 730,000 U.S. downloads and briefly reached second place in the charts.
