Santander Commits $800M to AI-Driven Transformation of Chilean Operations
aiinsider ·
Santander has announced an $800 million investment in its Chilean operations over the next three years, focusing on data and artificial intelligence to streamline internal processes and improve customer responsiveness. Banco Santander Chile will provide approximately $550 million, while the Santander Group will contribute $250 million. The funds will support the acquisition of a life annuity business, a broad technology modernization program, and construction of the new Campus Santander headquarters. Santander also plans to expand its WorkCafé branches, which combine digital tools with in-person services, while upgrading its traditional branch network. Executive Chair Ana Botín said Chile’s institutional strengths and openness create favorable conditions for investment, with technology and AI central to productivity gains. The bank, which employs 8,315 people across 224 branches, is making the commitment as competition for capital intensifies across Latin America.
