Saudi Aramco has acquired a 49 percent stake in Humain, an artificial intelligence firm established to position Saudi Arabia as a global AI hub. The deal involves a $2.6 billion contribution from Aramco in 2026, alongside the provision of its own AI technology. Humain, founded by the sovereign wealth fund PIF in May 2025, focuses on building data centers, developing cloud services, and training AI models such as the Arabic language model ALLaM. The company aims to construct three gigawatts of data center capacity by 2030 to serve both domestic and international markets. Recent reports indicate that infrastructure developed jointly with AMD and Cisco is already serving customers inside and outside Saudi Arabia. To mitigate security risks amid regional conflicts, Humain is enhancing data center protection by leveraging Aramco's experience in securing oil infrastructure. Despite geopolitical tensions, demand for Humain's services remains strong, prompting plans for Aramco to utilize this technology internally while selling additional AI solutions.
