Seligman Ventures Doubles Deployable Capital to $1B to Back AI Infrastructure Startups
aiinsider ·
Seligman Ventures has doubled its deployable capital from $500 million to $1 billion to support startups focused on AI infrastructure. This strategic increase comes less than a year after the firm launched in February 2026, demonstrating rapid growth and confidence in the sector. The venture arm has already backed more than 14 companies, exceeding its initial expectation of six to eight investments. Its current portfolio includes notable firms such as SambaNova, Lumilens, and Eliyan, holding several board and observer seats. Managing Partner Umesh Padval noted that opportunities in compute, networking, power, and cybersecurity have surpassed expectations. The firm’s investment thesis suggests that solving one AI bottleneck often reveals new challenges as systems scale. Additional funds will enable larger investments and follow-on funding for existing portfolio companies. Seligman Investments manages approximately $48 billion in technology and healthcare assets through its broader platform.
