Siemens Opens Factory Testbeds in China to Advance Physical AI
aiinsider ·
Siemens has opened six physical AI application scenarios across five factories in China to test and refine systems on real production lines. These scenarios include bulk-material sorting, autonomous container movement, depalletizing, process operation, precision screw tightening, and flexible packaging. At the China International Industry Fair in Shanghai, the company introduced more than 20 new products, thirteen of which were developed locally in China. Siemens also signed cooperation agreements with over 40 Chinese companies spanning various industrial sectors such as automotive and photovoltaics. The company updated its Eigen Engineering Agent, an AI system that can now automatically generate project structures, potentially cutting development time by 50%. Additionally, Siemens collaborated with a Chinese research institute to release a national standard for reconfigurable intelligent factory systems. This standard aims to facilitate easier connection and reconfiguration of equipment, digital twins, and AI models. Siemens executives emphasized that China's complete industrial ecosystem provides fertile ground for moving industrial AI from proof-of-concept to large-scale implementation.
