SoftBank Group has invested $225 million in Utah-based Autonomous Solutions Inc. (ASI) and established a joint venture to develop autonomous construction equipment. The partnership aims to commercialize ASI's Mobius fleet-management platform for large-scale infrastructure projects, including civil construction and material handling. This investment supports the deployment of mixed fleets containing haul trucks, dozers, loaders, and compactors from various manufacturers. ASI CEO Mel Torrie highlighted that the collaboration leverages over 25 years of technology development to expand autonomous systems for roads, airports, and railways. The company previously demonstrated its capabilities in agriculture by equipping John Deere tractors with its Vehicle Automation Kit for a project in South Florida. SoftBank capitalized the venture to facilitate commercial-scale operations alongside ASI’s broader market expansion efforts. The joint venture focuses on providing OEM-agnostic solutions that allow different heavy equipment brands to operate autonomously together.
