South Korea plans to deploy approximately 1,700 AI robots across public-sector organizations in 2027 to stimulate domestic demand and gather real-world operational data. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is organizing events to connect government agencies with local robotics manufacturers, including Hyundai Motor and Rainbow Robotics. These robots will be utilized in diverse fields such as research, security, policing, and agriculture. Operating data collected during these deployments will be shared with companies to help refine their systems and improve technology performance. The government is also preparing comprehensive deployment guidelines covering data usage and equipment maintenance by the end of 2026. Additionally, the ministry intends to showcase various robot types, including humanoids and quadrupeds, at the upcoming RoboWorld 2026 event. This initiative aims to transition robotics from controlled laboratory settings into practical, everyday public applications.
