SpaceX’s AI business is beating expectations
techcrunch ·
SpaceX's artificial intelligence division has exceeded investor expectations, now accounting for 52% of the company's total income. The conglomerate reported $14.6 billion in third-quarter revenue, driven largely by its renamed 'Super Intelligence' business line which includes Grok and the Cursor coding tool. This segment features a burgeoning neocloud infrastructure that currently boasts 1.7 GW of compute capacity. Additional financial boosts came from approximately $1 billion in Bitcoin price recovery and unspecified related-party income. Despite these gains, the company incurred $19.6 billion in capital expenditures to fund the Colossus II data center project and Starship rocket development. These investments support SpaceX's strategic pivot away from its traditional space-focused roots toward becoming an AI-centric entity. The growing revenue highlights the rapid expansion of its data center operations alongside its ongoing aerospace initiatives.
