Tensor, Münchner Taxi Zentrum Plan Up to 500 Autonomous Taxis in Germany
aiinsider ·
Tensor Auto and Münchner Taxi Zentrum (MTZ) have signed a letter of intent to deploy up to 500 autonomous Robocars in German cities. This initiative is contingent upon final agreements and the acquisition of Level 4 regulatory approval for autonomous driving. MTZ will operate the fleet under its own brand, managing daily operations and customer relationships while retaining control over ride data. Tensor will supply the vehicles and provide an Autonomous Driving as a Service subscription that includes software, fleet tools, and training. The companies also aim to secure orders for up to 10,000 additional Robocars from European operators within 24 months of European availability. MTZ CEO Gregor Beiner emphasized the importance of professional drivers for services requiring a human touch alongside automated systems. No specific timeline has been provided for the initial commercial launch in Germany.
