This AI startup says it can generate permit-ready blueprints in minutes

Al Drams, an architect with nearly two decades of experience, founded Blueprints AI to automate the creation of permit-ready construction blueprints using generative AI. Inspired by the emergence of large language models like ChatGPT, Drams launched the startup in Santa Monica alongside co-founder Coco Cao. The company was selected for TechCrunch Disrupt’s 2026 Startup Battlefield 200 cohort and is set to unveil a second-generation software version at the event. This new tool allows users to generate comprehensive building plans from simple sketches or descriptions, covering architectural, structural, and mechanical aspects simultaneously. A key feature of the upgraded software is its ability to update entire projects instantly when design changes are made while ensuring compliance with local building codes. Although the AI handles repetitive drafting tasks, licensed architects must still review and seal the documents before submission for permits. The startup targets both professional design firms and real estate developers through subscription-based pricing models.
