aiinsider ·
Tokyo Boeki Holdings and South Korea’s PLAiF have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore physical AI-based assembly automation for Japanese manufacturers. The partnership aims to address manufacturing challenges such as worker shortages, skill transfer difficulties, and productivity improvements. PLAiF will provide dual-arm robotic technology for assembly and fastening tasks along with technical support. Meanwhile, Tokyo Boeki Holdings will identify customer needs, organize proof-of-concept projects, and handle local sales and business development in Japan. This collaboration is currently focused on validating market demand and technical feasibility rather than immediate commercial deployment. Both companies intend to use the results of these evaluations to determine how best to develop an assembly automation business model for the Japanese market. PLAiF CEO Jung Tae-young stated that this agreement marks the starting point for examining the practical application of assembly automation in Japanese manufacturing sites.
