aiinsider ·
Torch Systems has secured $11.5 million in total funding to expand its AI-powered monitoring solutions for critical physical infrastructure. The financing includes $9.5 million in equity from investors such as Khosla Ventures and $2 million in venture debt from First Citizens Innovation Banking. The company utilizes solar-powered TerraNode devices equipped with multi-sensor capabilities and edge AI to detect anomalies like fires, equipment overheating, and intrusions. Originally founded by CEO Vasya Tremsin as a high school wildfire detection project, Torch has evolved into an outdoor asset intelligence provider. Hundreds of devices are currently deployed across six U.S. states, serving customers including Dominion Energy. The new capital will be used to scale manufacturing, grow field operations teams, and advance the Torch Intelligence Platform. This investment marks a shift from niche fire detection to broader continuous awareness of distributed outdoor assets.
