President Donald Trump announced $2.4 billion in AI research commitments from eleven industry partners to support the Federal Genesis Mission on October 8, 2026. The pledges were made during a White House summit titled "Science: A New Golden Age" and aim to apply AI tools to scientific research across federal agencies. Nvidia led the contributions with a $1 billion commitment, followed by AMD's $500 million pledge and OpenAI's $200 million contribution. Other major participants included Anthropic and Google, each committing $150 million, while AMP, Emerald AI, AWS, Armada, Crusoe, and Micron contributed $100 million or $50 million respectively. These investments primarily take the form of compute credits designed to assist more than fifteen federal agencies in tackling national science and technology challenges. This initiative builds upon the Genesis Mission's July expansion, which involved over fifteen agencies and a separate $5 billion federal commitment covering energy, health, and space sectors. Additionally, the Department of Energy announced new project awards totaling $159 million for phase II initiatives and $96 million for early-career researchers. The White House stated that these combined efforts represent more than $6 billion in total investments involving government, industry, academia, and philanthropy.
