Trump suggests rebranding AI with a new name, says he’s also creating an AI Force

President Donald Trump rejected recent AI-safety concerns as politically motivated hoaxes, without presenting evidence for that claim. On Truth Social, he argued that “Artificial Intelligence” is an inaccurate or inelegant name and opened a poll offering “Superior Intelligence,” “Extreme Intelligence,” and “Supreme Intelligence” as alternatives. He also claimed that opponents had shifted from attacking data centers to targeting AI, although criticism of data centers has come from both Republicans and Democrats and New York recently halted permits for large projects. Trump said he would support and oversee the AI industry while creating an AI Force modeled on the Space Force and soon naming an AI “czar,” but he did not explain their responsibilities. His comments came amid an intensified debate over existential AI risks, including an Anthropic researcher’s resignation and a plan by CEO Dario Amodei to slow frontier development. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang later agreed with Trump’s characterization of the AI backlash as a hoax and opposed allowing a slowdown.
