TypeSafe AI Emerges From Stealth With $40M to Build Machine-Native AI Models
aiinsider ·
TypeSafe AI, a frontier AI lab focused on composable, machine-native intelligence, has emerged from stealth after raising $40 million in seed funding led by DCVC. It was founded by Diogo Almeida, a former OpenAI researcher and co-inventor of RLHF and ChatGPT, alongside Erik Gafni and Sasha Sheng. Almeida says the company is pursuing an alternative research path aimed at building intelligence primarily for software rather than human interaction, with AI operating inside systems instead of mainly through conversational assistants. TypeSafe argues that current frontier models can be unpredictable in production because of hallucinations and inconsistent methodologies. Its first model, Jev, is designed to provide frontier-level intelligence with latency below 100 milliseconds and is positioned as up to 100 times faster and cheaper than comparable frontier models; it can generate multiple outputs in parallel and provide calibrated confidence scores. Jev is currently offered to selected developers through a waitlisted early-access program.
