Uber puts all 30,000 employees on ChatGPT Work
techcrunch ·
Uber and OpenAI have announced a significant expansion of their partnership, with Uber deploying ChatGPT Work to its entire global workforce of approximately 30,000 employees. This move follows an earlier pilot program in July that involved 1,000 staff members from diverse departments such as finance, operations, and product. According to Sumanth Sukumar, Uber’s VP of engineering, the majority of early adopters were non-engineers who utilized the tool for tasks like data analysis, localization, and dashboard creation. Rather than enforcing a rigid usage policy, Uber is encouraging teams to experiment with the AI to identify opportunities for automating key job functions. The company plans to monitor employee interactions with the technology to evaluate effectiveness and guide future AI deployments across the business. While specific financial details regarding the rollout cost remain undisclosed, OpenAI has been aggressively scaling its enterprise offerings to compete with rivals like Anthropic. This widespread adoption marks a major step in integrating enterprise-focused AI agents into large-scale corporate workflows.
