Viture’s Vonder Glasses Are Meant to Map Your Mind
wired ·
Viture has announced the Vonder, its first pair of smart glasses designed without cameras or virtual displays to focus on privacy and cognitive mapping. Instead of visual projection, these devices utilize bone-conduction microphones to passively record the wearer's speech and generate a personal memory graph that organizes daily experiences and ideas. The AI assistant integrates multiple large language models to provide context-aware insights, such as identifying behavioral patterns or summarizing life events. CEO David Jiang shared a personal anecdote about how the glasses alerted him to his critical behavior during his son's tennis matches, helping improve their relationship. Unlike competitors like Meta, Viture emphasizes discreet operation with minimal indicator lights and data collection limited primarily to the wearer's own voice. The glasses offer approximately 16 hours of battery life and can be customized with prescription lenses and various frame styles. Priced at $299, preorders begin on September 28 with shipments scheduled for November.
