Volvo Cars and NVIDIA Expand Partnership to Advance Safe Automated Driving
nvidia ·
Volvo Cars and NVIDIA have announced an expansion of their partnership to enhance safety in automated driving technologies for future vehicles. Building on a decade-long collaboration that began in 2017, the companies will combine Volvo's extensive safety expertise with NVIDIA's AI and accelerated computing capabilities. The technology relies on the NVIDIA Hyperion sensor and compute architecture, along with Halos OS and the Alpamayo Stack driving software. This integration aims to enable cars to navigate complex real-world environments, including highways and urban streets, with increasing levels of automation such as eyes-off and mind-off driving. The new system is scheduled to debut in a next-generation Volvo model as part of the company's largest product push to date. Executives from both firms emphasized that combining Volvo's human-centric safety approach with NVIDIA's intelligent machine capabilities creates a unique opportunity for safer, more effortless driving experiences. This move solidifies Volvo's position as a leader in software-defined electric vehicles while leveraging advanced AI to improve customer trust and convenience.
