Weflayr Announces $2.5M Pre-Seed to Build Intelligent AI Inference Routing Layer
aiinsider ·
Paris-based startup Weflayr has secured a $2.5 million pre-seed funding round led by 13books Capital, with additional participation from Founders Future, Kima Ventures, Plug and Play, Station F Ventures, and General Catalyst scout Roxanne Varza. The company aims to provide AI enterprises with full control over model evaluation, selection, and routing by benchmarking models against specific production data rather than relying on generic gateways. This intelligent inference routing layer allows teams to approve trusted models, set custom rules, and match requests to previously analyzed calls while linking decisions to cost margins. Early deployments demonstrated significant efficiency gains, cutting inference costs by more than 55% at equivalent quality levels. Additionally, the platform achieved 15 percentage points higher relative quality compared to frontier models when operating at the same cost. Weflayr was founded by Romain Mazeries, former CEO of Mangopay, and Noé Achache, former Head of AI Engineering at Theodo Data & AI. Mike McFadgen of 13books Capital highlighted the critical nature of AI inference infrastructure and the opportunity for an independent intelligence layer. The newly raised capital will be used to expand engineering and research teams while supporting growth across Europe and the United States.
