YouTube Music Adds Labels to Flag AI-Generated Songs
aiinsider ·
YouTube Music has begun implementing labels to identify songs created with generative AI, including tracks where artificial intelligence contributed to composition or vocals. These labels appear on the player page and will eventually extend to the main YouTube app, allowing listeners to click through for details on the specific role AI played in a track. The company collaborated with music partners who can declare their use of generative AI under three categories: Fully Gen AI, Partly Gen AI, and No Gen AI. This disclosure-focused approach contrasts with competitors like Deezer and TIDAL, which have imposed stricter limits on AI-generated content. While Apple Music plans to introduce similar labels later this year, Spotify already identifies AI tracks. Unlike some rivals, YouTube does not restrict monetization eligibility based solely on AI involvement. The platform continues to experiment with AI music creation through its Dream Track tool.
